The Coastal Challenge Costa Rica is a multi-stage trail running race, where you’ll test your mental and physical strength.
It’s considered one of the top trail running races in the world, but TCC is much more than that. You’ll run through rainforests, jungle, cross rivers, and traverse miles of sandy beaches. To complete the experience, all runners (world pro and amateurs), staff & media interact in a 24 hours all inclusive base camp experience during the six day stage race.
This race just celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2019, and it has no plans to slow down!
Expedition Run | 236km | 34,000ft elevation
Adventure Run | 155km | 13,100ft elevation
February 8 - 15, 2020
You! Be part of an eclectic team of international runners, both elite and amateur, who are all tackling the challenging terrain together. You’ll share trails, tents, and meals together, and you’ll gain a whole new trail family along the way.
The course is set along Costa Rica’s tropical Pacific coastline, but weaves at times into the Talamancas, a coastal mountain range in the Southwest corner of the country. You’ll finish near the border of Panama in a serene fishing village that until recently was only accessible by boat.
Terrain: you’ll traverse jungle and rainforest trails, run mountain trail and single track across ridge lines, through highlands and coastal ranges; there’ll be beaches, rocky outcroppings and reefs, river and estuary crossings, and miles of river to wade through. The race ends in Corcovado National Park, one of the premier rainforest experiences in the world as well as a Unesco World Heritage site.
